Here's what we'll do together:

For our Sourcing department in Shanghai, we are looking for an enthusiastic Fabric & Garment Processing Technician with a passion for fabric, treatments & product quality. A love for apparel and in particular denim would be preferred since denim is at the core of our business.
 
In this role, you will cover the China fabric portfolio consisting of all types of woven, denim and knit fabrics made and treated in China, for export to vendors world-wide as well as for China based garment production. 
 
You will be responsible to ensure the consistency in quality and aesthetics of fabric & treatments of G-Star products throughout the product development and production stages.
 
You will cover needed steps prior to fabric export as well as technical support pre-production.
 
Working together with our QA colleagues in G-Star Shanghai office, you will ensure the technical parameters and testing standards of G-Star products are maintained at every stage of product development & manufacturing.
 
You will be working closely with our global team of R&D, Product development, Quality Assurance, G-Star Product Intelligence Centers, fabric mills and garment suppliers on a daily basis.
 
You will report directly to the QA Manager in Shanghai.
 

Your tasks and responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the right quality management and audit policies are implemented and agreed with fabric mills and garment suppliers to safe guard G-Star product quality standard during R&D and production stages.
  • Work closely with fabric mills and garment suppliers to implement the material and product testing procedures during R&D and production stages.
  • Implement process control to verify and document FTDS(Fabric Technical Data Sheet) and test reports prior to SMS development and production.
  • Ensure fabric stretch and fabric shrinkage are monitored form SMS to bulk to deliver consistent result on measurements in production.
  • Perform risk assessment on fabric and garment treatments. Communicate the risk factors and possible corrective solutions to relevant parties.
  • Ensure right process control in place to avoid quality problems due to critical fabric and garment treatments during R&D and production.
  • Lab dip approval prior to proto, SMS and bulk production.
  • Provide initial fabric lot approval as per material approval SOP.
  • Provide wash PPS approval as per the SOP.
  • Provide shade band approvals during bulk production.
  • Visit fabric mills and garment factories frequently to perform quality auditing during manufacturing of G-Star materials and products.
  • Provide periodical training & performance analysis presentation to garment suppliers in order to maintain the right aesthetics and product quality.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree on textile technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in the technical field.
  • Well educated and relevant experience on fabric and garment processing techniques (wet & dry processing).
  • Experience with system administration such as PLM, MS office.
  • Very good analytical skills to be able analyze create reports from various data sources.
  • Pro-active, structured working method and excellent communication skills.
  • Detailed-oriented and committed.
  • Fluent in Mandarin & English, both written and oral.
  • Ready to travel to fabric mills and garment factories across China.
  • Take ownership of difficult matters.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
