Job description

We are currently seeking a Senior Product Developer Footwear to develop the sportswear shoe collection with a passion for quality, details and fashion for our Product development Department. You know what’s happening in the industry and you’re familiar with the latest trends and developments.

You are a technical expert with great taste in respect to design and creation – a process in which you are closely involved every step of the way. You examine and assess all facets relevant to the product being developed and propose technical solutions as called for. You relate to and communicate constructively with your counterpart at the local production site, making sure they understand the product and are suitably instructed, thus guaranteeing flawless product development. You are also responsible for quality compliance and the timely completion of sample and production books. Working together with Styling and Sales, you safeguard the unique G-Star look & feel. You report directly to the Sourcing Director Footwear.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensure all products are developed in close collaboration with design to ensure integrity of the total concept of which you carry the shared responsibility
• Safeguard product integrity and the concept spirit according to G-Star DNA
• Investigate and offer technical solutions to Styling / Sales needs
• Ensure products are within G-Star quality requirements
• Look after the mass production feasibility of the products
• Work closely together with sales and Styling to ensure a commercially priced product
• Research industry innovations and inform Styling / Sales
• Monitor the quality of Proto and Salesman sample being produced at the factory

• Manage development of the Sales sample and ensure these are executed perfectly and are delivered in time
• Ensure sample and production books are finished within specified period
• Preserve quality of sample and production books
• Work closely with Fabrics & Leather Suppliers
• Travel abroad in order to manage on site product development
• Submit together with the Sourcing Director a sourcing strategy proposal per concept and season
• Undertake mold shop evaluation, selection and development


• Bachelor degree and 5-10 years’ experience in the shoe industry in a similar position
• In-depth technical understanding of footwear manufacturing (pattern-engineering, mold-making, grading, material processing).
• advanced in excel

• capable of performing under pressure
• fluent in English
• prepared to travel frequently
