HERE'S WHAT WE'LL DO TOGETHER:

As a Purchaser within the purchasing team of G-STAR, you are responsible for procuring the G-STAR materials and products within the correct deadline to ensure ready products will arrive on time at G-STAR stores and customers worldwide.
 
In your role you will be in charge of all purchasing activities for your G-STAR product category. On a weekly basis, you will be placing purchase orders and material bookings with material and garment suppliers globally, negotiating the best final prices for your orders based on volume. During these activities, you will continuously optimize the category procurement planning by negotiating the best ready dates for materials and ready garments whilst minimizing additional costs and material stocks.
 
Next to that, you will dynamically administer the buy and ensure accurate purchase information on price, delivery and materials is readily available and aligned across all stakeholders at all times. You will be in daily contact with suppliers, building strong relations to ensure the purchase operations run smoothly and to achieve a consistently strong delivery performance.
 
Within G-STAR, you will work closely with the Product Development and Merchandising teams to align and take action on the daily purchasing business needs for your category. In your role, you will report to the G-STAR Purchasing Manager.

This position can be filled in Valencia, Spain – or in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyzing the production lead-times and perform risk assessment to place raw material booking at right time.
  • Monitoring closely the material stock flow and avoiding unnecessary buildup of fabrics and trims.
  • Placing purchase orders and negotiating the best ex-factory dates.
  • Negotiating the final prices based on volumes and arranging administrative follow up.
  • Monitoring the production planning on a weekly base and informing stakeholders.
  • Mapping supplier capacity to optimize allocation and production planning.
  • Building strong relations with our vendors and developing their delivery performance.
  • Managing your deadlines together with the other Purchasers, Product Developers and Merchandisers.

HERE'S WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • A relevant Bachelor and preferably 2-3 years of experience in a purchasing business environment.
  • Good understanding of apparel production processes and lead times
  • Good understanding of supplier management in the purchasing area.
  • Set of strong administrative skills next to financial awareness across all areas of the Purchasing process.
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments such as Product Development and Merchandising.
  • Organized and pro-active result driven work approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing in English.
  • Strong system skills, Microsoft Office, PLM, SAP.
