HERE’S WHAT WE DO TOGETHER:
The G-STAR Styling & Design Department develops the G-STAR collection, starting by doing research in the form of traveling to different markets & trade fairs, digital & vintage research to determine new fits, fabrics, colors and details. In short, the Design Department develops and creates the entire G-STAR collection.
The Senior Designer Knits Women is a vital member of the Design Department creating bestseller designs, still keeping innovation at its highest. We are looking for an exceptional individual who lives and breathes denim and design, a Designer who is an out-of-the-box thinker that can work within a highly creative team. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Creative thinking and sharp attention to detail combined with a passion for knitted garments is essential to achieve the best creations for each collection.
- Collection Design – Lead the creative development of seasonal knitwear for Womenswear across multiple product groups (t-shirts, sweats, shirts, jackets, pants), balancing innovation with commercial appeal.
- Trend & Fabric Research – Conduct research to identify new fits, fabrics, colors, and details, while pushing sustainable and innovative knit techniques.
- Product Creation – Translate design concepts into sketches and technical packs, overseeing fittings and working with pattern makers, developers, and suppliers to ensure quality and design integrity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with Merchandising, Product Development and Brand & Creative departments including the Marketing team to align product stories with seasonal strategy and brand identity, ensuring consistency from concept to retail.
- Leadership & Mentoring – Take creative ownership of knitwear categories, provide guidance to the Design Intern, and present design concepts with clarity and impact in internal reviews.
- Process & Agility – Manage multiple design projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, contributing to continuous improvement of workflows and ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality collections.
HERE’S WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in fashion design, fashion management, fashion merchandising or equivalent from a recognized academic institution,
- At least 5 years Womenswear Denim Design experience in a denim, street or sportswear (non-technical) design team,
- At least 1 year responsibility for designing for more than one product group (preferably in all product groups (T’s, sweats, shirts, jackets, pants),
- Preferable experience in designing for monthly deliveries,
- Knowledge of pattern cutting,
- Excellent skills in Illustrator and Photoshop,
- Fluent in English,
- Full time availability.
